A Visit from Shaka Sola
Sola Power Throwing Academy
This afternoon we had a throwing expert come and give us some training in preparation for our School Athletics Day next week. Shaka Sola, from "Sola Power Throwing Academy", came to show us how to throw vortex and quoits.
After demonstrating the techniques Shaka threw a quoit, discus and a vortex and it went for MILES! Then it was our turn.

Mrs Holmes thought she'd give the men's Olympic weight Shot put a go. We ended our session with a great tug-o-war competition. It was all about team work, as well as building up our muscles! |

How many ways can you make the 'sh' sound?
Well we found there were a lot more ways than we thought.
Maybe there is 9??? We are not sure but have challenged a few other classes to see what they think.
What will we discover?

NZ Shake Out
Everyone, everywhere should know the right action to take before, during and after an earthquake.
Thursday 15 October is the International ShakeOut Day of Action. New Zealand will be the first country to participate this year, at 9:15am!*
We’re aiming to get 1.5 million New Zealanders to sign up to take part – which should also make ours the biggest (per capita) ShakeOut drill in the world!

Getting the Conversation Started #kidspeaknz
On Wednesday morning a group of seniors were all excited to take part in our first conversation with learners from other schools using Twitter.
It was called #kidspeaknz.
A group of children went on to chromebooks at 9:15 to get ready for our first #kidspeaknz. We got to read other people's opinion, and what they thought about their own school. Some children didn't agree on our opinion, some opinions were different. It was awesome to see other’s opinions. We spent about 45 minutes typing, discussing and thinking. Some of the ideas were ones we didn't even think of. It was an exciting experiment, and we hope everyone else will get a turn. By Briony
We had 7 questions and had to answer them,it was great to see how other people thought of things, and to see how their school was going too. It was also a way for our teachers to see things we thought needed improvement. It was my first time on twitter and it was an awesome experience, and i would love to do it again!!! By Grace M
We had 7 questions which involved students to answer them and express their thoughts on that particular question. Everyones opinion was unique, some we didn't agree on and some we thought ‘hay this is a good idea!’. It was an amazing experience to talk with other kids and see what different schools are doing around NZ! By Ella

Our fantastic Room 2 all helped to create those AWESOME taniwha for our school production. We have a creative bunch of kids in our class and they all loved helping paint Ngake and Whataitai in the weeks leading up to our show. Here's a few photos of our artists in action.

And then it was SHOWTIME. These photos were taken just before the main show started on Thursday night. You can tell everyone was VERY excited.
Can't wait to see the DVD so we can relive our fabulous performances.
Post Production- share your thoughts
Post your comments below! What's your reflection!
Make sure you read what others write.
